Too many times in life people think that they are entitled to something, or they think people should “Just make allowances for them just this once”. The reality is People should stop thinking they are going to be the exception to the rule. People We Are the Rule! The rules have been plainly written for any average situation. They were written soon after the beginning of time. When you are the exception to the rule and things that shouldn’t have logically happened to you do happen, that should be taken as a secret blessing. 

I would like to say that I am growing restless with the current AS IS of the United States Government and the American People. We need change. We need BIG change. We need BIG change NOW! We need people to stop settling for the stagnated situation our country is in. People we have got to fight for a better tomorrow! It will not come if we do not seek it out! I promise you that. We cannot hide behind our Political Party. We have to seek what is good for us in individual instances. If healthier food is good for us then lets demand it! If Barack Obama is trying to pass a bill that will be good for us, we need to allow it. Someone does not need to oppose him simply because he is a Democrat and they are Republican. If a person believes something should be allowed, that does not mean he thinks it is not a sin. That is where people come into conflict. Our problem here in Alabama is that people think everything that a person thinks is a sin should be unlawful. You cannot stop sin but you can use it to create a better world for everyone. We need a drastic separation of church and state in this country and we need it now. 

I am actually quite pleased to tell you that I have several friends that are Muslim and several friends that are Hindu. I have a couple of Jewish friends as well. I heard someone say the other day that the Muslims should not be here. I want to know why? Is it because they are not Christian? Well, I’ll have you know people that Christianity is not the only religion on this Earth. The United States of America has no national religion. That means that anyone of any faith or anyone of no faith has the right to be protected under the law. 
Muslims were not responsible for the attacks on September 11, 2001. The people who were responsible for those attacks were members of the Taliban. Though members of the Taliban may or may not be members of the Muslim faith, the Muslim faith itself cannot be blamed for what happened. Ted Bundy was a member of the Christian faith growing up. Can the Christian faith be blamed for the murders that Ted Bundy committed? Some may argue that Ted Bundy was not a true Christian and the Christians can’t be blamed for what he did. Well, the people in control of those airplanes that day may not be true Muslims. America needs to start thinking about the golden rule. What if you were in a place where Christianity was in the minority? Would it not make you feel better if, though Christianity was in the minority, people just let you worship in the way you wanted to? The hatred that Christians feel in their hearts for people who are not just like them, it seems to me, makes them just as big a terrorist group as the Taliban. We need to start being more loving toward one another. Put smiles on our faces and welcome people of other races, religions, and lifestyles into our lives. We don’t have to agree with everything they do but we should respect the choices they have made in good reason for themselves.

In a speech given by Sarah Palin recently, she asks the audience who should be making the decision on what their children eat at school? “Should it be the government or should it be parents?” “It should be the parents!” 
Michelle Obama, in an interview with Barbara Walters, stated that government has a role to play as well as all the other sectors.
These two opposing comments raised the question, “Who should decide what the children in schools are eating?”

HERE IS MY RESPONSE

First of all, we are talking about public schools that are run by the… Wait for it… GOVERNMENT! So, who decides the curriculum the students are taught? The Government. Who decides how much time should be devoted to any particular course? The Government. So why is it that people don’t want the government to decide what they feed the students of the school? 
Second of all, if we have learned anything from Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, it is that some parents do not take the time to teach their children about proper nutrition. In fact some parents neglect to feed their children AT ALL! So why is it a bad thing for the GOVERNMENT to take more pride in the healthy eating habits of your children than you do? And why are parents so upset about the government wanting to replace foods that are high in fats and sugars with more nutritious foods that are naturally sweetened, life fruit? Why is it a bad thing that the government is trying to take away soda and give more water and fruit juice to the students?

{Let me give you a history lesson. Soda was first introduced in soda shops and ice cream parlors. It was made to be a treat just like ice cream or cake or pie. It was not made for people to drink two, three, four, five, or ten a day! That is not healthy! Would you give your child five bowls of ice cream periodically throughout the day? If you would that is child abuse by means of enabling obesity.}

My Politics are simple. I am for what is good for the people. I am not for what is good for the people’s religion. I am not for what is good for the people’s morals. I am not for what is good for the people’s likes and dislikes. I am not for what is good for the people’s trust funds. I am for what is good for the people. I do believe that if you have worked hard for your money then you should be able to keep it. I also believe that in a time of crisis, you should give what you can to help end the crisis. If you make more money then you should give more money. I have a list of things that I think every American should have:

1. A copy of the Constitution of the United States of America
2. A Globe
3. A religious text for a religion other than your own. (i.e. If you are Christian then you should own a Torah or a Quran.)

This list is compiled with the logic that you are born an American, and should you choose to remain an American you should be knowledgeable of the Laws of the Land. You can’t fight for the Constitution if you do not know what it even says. The Globe is for the same purpose. You live on the planet Earth, you should know what is on it. Know where countries are. Know what they are talking about on a news channel when the anchorperson says that the Secretary of State is traveling to Iran to discuss politics, Know where the country is when they say there was an earthquake in Haiti, or know that when Russia invaded Georgia your Aunt Christy in Macon would not be in danger. (Side note: Watch a news channel! Do not just rely on what the preacher or your teacher or the extreme conservative or the the extreme liberal says. Do the research for yourself and see where you fit.) Lastly, the religious text for a religion other than your own is a two purpose point. One, it is for the purpose to remind you that your faith is not the only faith, your way of doing things is not the only way of doing things, your beliefs are not the only beliefs. All this being said in regard to the fact that you may think it is and that is fine. Just know that in as much as you would like people to respect your Christian beliefs or your Jewish beliefs etc. you should respect other people’s beliefs. Two, whether you are happy about the fact or not, you coexist with people of other faiths. It is a good idea to know at least a fragment of their religion so that you can relate in a way that is respectful and nurturing of their beliefs and so that you can realize that there are great similarities in the faiths of the world. People of one faith could learn a lot by seeing the practices of another. 

Government leaders of any Political Party deserve the respect their station entitles them. If you are a Democrat and a Republican President is elected, then that President deserves to have your full support. Not because he is a Democrat or a Republican, but because he is the President of the United States of America, and whether by merit or default he is an honorable man and should be treated as such. He is in the position to run the country as he sees fit. We as Citizens of the United States have a responsibility to allow him to lead us without hinderance. The same is true for the people serving in a smaller arena. Your local law makers deserve the same respect. 

My last point I want to make is let your voice be heard. We are living during a wonderful time for the people of the United States of America. We have so much access to information and we have so many platforms to let our voices be heard, Facebook. Twitter, or Tumblr, just to name a few. Government leaders, if they are worth the ground upon which they stand, want to hear from you. True, not everyone will get the chance to talk to the President, but why not talk to your mayor, or your state senator, or your United States Senator? They are in the position they are in to serve the people of their state and their country. So find out their email address or if they have a website, find out the URL and go do the research. Get involved and let your voice be heard. As citizens of the United States of America we have the tools necessary to make our voices heard. Live in Silence no longer!
